FINAL: Sea Dogs lose 4-0

FINAL: Cape Breton 4, Saint John 0
SAINT JOHN - It was another rough night for the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs recorded just 17 shots on goal in a 4-0 loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Wednesday night at Harbour Station.

Saint John registered just seven dangerous shots on net in the entire game. They were outshot 16-1 in the second period, but managed to rebound in the third a bit, being outshot 14-9.

The loss was Saint John's sixth straight. The team now sits dead last in the overall standings.

This was the first meeting of the year between the Sea Dogs and Screaming Eagles that ended in a lopsided score. All six previous meetings were decided by two goals or less.

Brooklyn Kalmikov, Phelix Martineau, Shaun Miller and Ross MacDougall scored for Cape Breton. Kevin Mandolese stopped all 17 shots he faced for the shutout victory.

Alex D'Orio made 32 stops in the loss.

The Sea Dogs were without forwards Cole Reginato (lower body), Matt Green (upper body), Landon Quinney (upper body), Nicholas Deakin-Poot (upper body) and Kevin Mason (injury).

There are still two meetings remaining between these two teams. Both of those games will take place in Sydney next month... Mathias Laferriere recorded three assists... defenceman Alexis Girard was once again used as a winger. 10 "real" forwards were dressed for the game... Radim Salda took three minor penalties.

The Sea Dogs host the Halifax Mooseheads on Friday at 7 p.m.
