Game Day 52: vs Mooseheads

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will try again to snap a lengthy losing streak.

The Sea Dogs have dropped six straight games heading into tonight's contest with the Halifax Mooseheads. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Harbour Station.

It'll be a battle of worst vs first tonight with the Dogs sitting last overall in the QMJHL standings and the Mooseheads leading the Maritimes Division and currently sitting second overall.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 12-30-7-2 for 33 points (6th Maritimes, 18th QMJHL) while the Mooseheads are 34-12-6-1 for 75 points (1st Maritimes, 2nd QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Wednesday night at Harbour Station. Alex D'Orio made 32 stops in the loss. The Mooseheads are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens last night at Scotiabank Centre. Maxime Fortier, Brett Crossley and Filip Zadina scored for Halifax. Alexis Gravel allowed four goals on 17 shots in the loss.

2017-18 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 1-4-1-0 against the Mooseheads this season while Halifax is 5-1-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Jan. 28 in Halifax where the Mooseheads defeated the Sea Dogs 8-2. Benoit-Olivier Groulx and Otto Somppi each scored twice for Halifax while singles came from Connor Moynihan, Maxime Fortier, Kyle Petten and Jared McIsaac. Saint John goals came from Ostap Safin and Robbie Burt. Alexis Gravel made 15 stops in the win. Alex D'Orio made 38 stops in the loss.

Random stat: The Mooseheads have been one of the league's best road teams this season. Their 16 wins is tied for the league high.
