Former Saint John Sea Dogs forward Joshua Roy made his professional debut Wednesday night in Laval.
Suiting up for the third game of the American Hockey League's Eastern Conference final, Roy posted three shots in the Rocket's 6-3 loss to the Springfield Thunderbirds. Springfield now leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.
The 19-year-old was a fifth-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in last year's NHL Draft.
Roy is coming off a sensational season with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, winning the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League scoring race with 51 goals and 119 points in 66 games. In the AHL's Western Conference final, former Sea Dogs captain Spencer Smallman and the Chicago Wolves have taken a 3-0 series lead over the Stockton Heat thanks to a 3-0 win Wednesday night.

- The Shawinigan Cataractes are one victory away from winning the franchise's first President Cup championship. The Cataractes took a 3-0 series lead in the QMJHL final with a 5-4 overtime win over the Charlottetown Islanders Wednesday. Charles Beaudoin was given credit for the winning goal, which was accidentally put in by Islanders defenseman Noah Laaouan.
- Former Sea Dogs forward Dawson Stairs had an assist in the Game 3 loss. Charlottetown outshot Shawinigan 17-2 in the opening period.
- In the WHL, the Edmonton Oil Kings are a win away from booking a trip to Saint John following a 3-2 Game 4 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds Wednesday. The Oil Kinds netted the game-winner with four seconds remaining in the third period.
- TSN is certainly spoiling junior hockey fans this round. Wednesday's QMJHL final broadcast went directly into the WHL game. You love to see it.
- The OHL final doesn't resume until Friday. The Windsor Spitfires currently lead the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
