Memorial Cup makes eventful St. John's visit

The Memorial Cup has been making the rounds around Atlantic Canada, Quebec and soon Ontario this summer.

Like the Stanley Cup champions each year, Saint John Sea Dogs players and coaches are getting a day or two with the Memorial Cup in their hometown. It's been a busy summer for the trophy - but perhaps none more so than this past week in St. John's.

Before being officially named the team's new head coach on Friday, Travis Crickard seemed to take the trophy just about everywhere in the Newfoundland and Labrador capital. The Cup's visit conveniently coincided with Regatta week.

Here's some social media content from the Cup's St. John's visit.
Note Crickard's "City of Champions" t-shirt in the Regatta tweet, which has a "x2" written on the Memorial Cup silhouette.

It's also time to bring back the Fog Devils and have the Memorial Cup tournament held in St. John's. Someone has to say it!

The Sudbury Star reports that Philippe Daoust will be bringing the Memorial Cup to Noelville, ON next week.
