Sea Dogs announce camp cuts

The Saint John Sea Dogs announced a few roster moves Tuesday morning.

The team has trimmed its active training camp roster to 35 players. The following players were released: defenseman Erik MacNiel (invite), forward Jaden Duprey (2nd-round US draft pick in 2022), defenseman Reed Pettipas (14th-round pick in 2022), defenseman Mirko Fernandez (invite), goaltender Charles-Antoine Girard (10th-round pick in 2022), forward Benjamin Beaudry (9th-round pick in 2022) and Marc-Antoine El Hawat (13th-round pick in 2022).

According to Tuesday's release, "veteran players return on Sept. 6 and will make their on-ice return on Sept. 9 in Fredericton against the Halifax Mooseheads."

The Sea Dogs play three pre-season games this week, facing the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in back-to-back contests before travelling to Dartmouth to take on the Mooseheads on Friday.
