SAINT JOHN
- The Charlottetown Islanders picked up another important victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Monday afternoon at TD Station.

Former Sea Dog Simon Hughes scored a pair of goals to lead the Islanders to a 5-3 win, extending Charlottetown's lead over Saint John in the race for the QMJHL's final playoff spots. The Islanders now have an eight-point lead on the Sea Dogs with 14 games remaining.

Quispamsis native Kiefer Lyons, who scored the game-winner in Charlottetown's 3-2 victory in Saint John on Saturday, scored again while Jeremie Biakabutuka and Michael Horth added the Islanders' other goals. Jakob Robillard was very good in net, making 39 saves in the win.

Noah Reinhart, Pavel Simek and Luca Benoit scored for Saint John. The Sea Dogs had plenty of offensive zone time - including five power plays - and created some quality chances but simply had a hard time converting. Saint John never led in the game.

Olivier Brideau made some key saves in the first two periods to keep the game close. The netminder made 25 saves in the loss.
