Beaulieu was paired with Cody Ceci for the contest and
the duo played quite well together. The Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman finished
the game with a goal and an assist while the Ottawa 67’s defender added a
helper as well.
Beaulieu helped setup Tyler Toffoli for Canada’s first
goal at 5:15 of the first period.
“Beautiful back door pass from Nathan Beaulieu to Tyler
Toffoli,” writes Aaron Vickers of Future Considerations. “There’s that Beaulieu
PP expertise.”
“The pairing of Beaulieu and Ceci have been pretty
impressive, Ceci in particular.”
The Montreal Canadiens prospect made it a 2-2 game when
he scored at 3:57 of the middle frame. “Beaulieu sneaks down just off the slot
in his usual spot,” described Vickers. “Wedgewood gets a pad on the first one,
but Strome faked the pass and found him again for another one-timer for the
goal.”
It was a strong game for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey
Leaguers still taking part in the camp. Along with Beaulieu’s two points,
Victoriaville’s Phillip Danault had two goals and Shawnigan’s Michael Bournival
one marker.
Defensemen Brandon Gormley, Dougie Hamilton, and Ryan
Murray and forwards Brendan Gallagher, Freddie Hamilton, Quinton Howden,
Jonathan Huberdeau, Mark Scheifele, Jaden Schwartz, Devante Smith-Pelly and
Mark Stone did not play.
Final cuts will be made Wednesday morning. Buckle up.
