The Teddy Bear Toss will return to Harbour Station this Saturday.
The Sea Dogs officially announced today that “Saturday’s game against the Halifax Mooseheads will be the annual Holiday Fun Day, with a visit from Santa Claus planned along with the return of the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to the game and throw them on the ice when the Sea Dogs score their first goal of the night. The bears will be distributed to needy families through the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Program.”
The popular promotion was cancelled last season because of a bedbug outbreak in south western New Brunswick. The Sea Dogs contacted charities across Canada but none were willing to accept the bears from Saint John. That won't be an issue this year.
The Calgary Hitmen recently made headlines for their Teddy Bear Toss that collected over 25,000 stuffed toys.
The Sea Dogs host the Mooseheads at 7pm on Saturday.
Also at Saturday’s game, a “Change Bandit” promotion will take place. All donations received will go to the Empty Stocking Fund. Santa will also be making an appearance.
The Dogs also play Friday at Harbour Station as they host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at 7:30pm. Fans can receive a special gift of Sea Dogs wrapping paper courtesy of Advocate Printing at both games, while supplies last.
