MONCTON – The Saint John Sea Dogs travel to Moncton to
clash with the Wildcats tonight for the first part of the annual New Year’s doubleheader. The Sea Dogs and Wildcats meet again on Monday at Harbour
Station.
The Sea Dogs enter play today with a record of 28-11-0-2
and sit first in the Maritimes Division and second overall in the league with
58 points. They are two points back of the first-place Quebec Remparts who have
played two fewer games.
Saint John is 12-8-0-1 on the road this year and have
outscored opponents 76-69.
The Wildcats enter today’s game with a record of
17-19-3-0 for 37 points. They sit fourth in the Maritimes Division and 12th
overall on the league. Moncton is 10-6-3-0 at home this season and have
outscored opponents 61-55.

LAST GAMES
The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the
PEI Rocket last night at Harbour Station. Aidan Kelly, Stephen MacAulay and
Charles-Olivier Roussel all scored for the Sea Dogs in the loss. Sebastien
Auger made 20 saves in net. Saint John was 1.1 seconds away from a regulation
win but the Rocket tied it and eventually won in a shootout.
Moncton is coming off a 3-2 overtime loss against the
Acadie-Bathurst Titan last night. Alex Saulnier and Ryan Penny both scored for
the Wildcats. Roman Will made 27 saves in the win.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Saint John is 2-1-0-0 against the Wildcats this season.
Their last meeting came on December 18 in Moncton when
the Sea Dogs defeated the Wildcats 5-2. Stephen MacAulay had a pair of goals
while singles came from Zack Phillips, Kevin Gagne and Grant West. Mathieu
Corbeil made 23 saves in the win.

Zack Phillips continues to lead Saint John in points with
54 (19G, 35A) in 34 games. Danick Gauthier leads the team in goals with 32
while Phillips has a team high 35 assists.
Moncton is led by Alex Saulnier who has 47 points (19G,
28A) in 33 games. He leads the team in both goals with 19 and assists with 28.

Mathieu Corbeil (22-7-0-0, 2.43 GAA, 0.909 SV%) for Saint

the World Under-17 Challenge in Windsor.
Forwards Stanislav Galiev (wrist), Ryan Tesink (knee),
and Devon Oliver-Dares (head) have all been out with injuries.

and there will be a special food drive for the Community Food Basket. Saint
John’s donations will be measured against those gathered Saturday in Moncton.
The city donating the most food by weight will earn three extra points in the
Brunswick News Rivalry Cup.
