SAINT JOHN – Brett Malone is a Saint John Sea Dog.
The Sea Dogs announced this morning that they had
acquired the forward from the Shawinigan Cataractes in exchange for a 2014 10th
round Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft pick. Malone was picked up
by Shawinigan yesterday after being placed on waivers by the Cape Breton
Screaming Eagles.
Malone was a third-round pick of the Moncton Wildcats in
2010. He played in 44 games with Moncton in 2010-11, 33 in 2011-12, and seven
this season, recording a total of four goals and five assists. He was then
acquired by the Screaming Eagles where he had three goals in 25 games.
The 18-year old Miramichi native is listed at 5-foot-11,
189-pounds.
This is the only deal the Sea Dogs have made on trade
deadline day 2013 so far. The deadline is at 1pm Atlantic time.
