Colisee Desjardins – Victoriaville, Que.
VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – Coming off one of their worst loses
of the season, the Saint John Sea Dogs look to get back on track today in
Victoriaville.
The Sea Dogs got blasted by the Oceanic in Rimouski last
night, losing 9-1 and firing just 16 shots on net. Brett Malone scored Saint
John’s only goal in what was a dominating performance by the Oceanic.
But today is a new day against a new opponent. The Dogs
take on Tigres at Colisee Desjardins at 5pm in what feels like their first
meeting in forever.
Last night’s loss dropped Saint John to 18-22-0-0 on the
season. They are fifth in the Telus Maritimes Division and 15th
overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. They are 9-10-0-0 on the
road.
With Jonathan Huberdeau away, Jakub Izacky is Saint John’s
leading scorer. He has 15 points.
The Tigres enter play today with a 17-19-2-5 record. They
sit fifth in the Telus East Division and 13th overall in the league
with 41 points. They are five points ahead of the Sea Dogs in the overall
standings but have played three more games.
Like the Sea Dogs, the Tigres are rebuilding and opted to
trade away some veterans. Captain Phillip Danault was traded to Moncton and
Troy Vance was exchanged to PEI.
Philippe Maillet leads the Tigres in scoring with 50
points in 40 games.
This is the second game of a three-in-three road trip for
Saint John. Their trip ends tomorrow with a 5pm contest in Sherbrooke.
