Two members of the Saint John Sea Dogs made NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings for the 2013 draft.
Defensemen Steven Duda and Jurij Repe both cracked the
North American skater rankings. Duda came in at No. 169 while Repe was placed at
No. 171, respectively.
Duda has five assists in 33 games since joining the Sea
Dogs as a free agent earlier this season. Repe, drafted 34th overall
in the CHL Import Draft last summer, has two goals and two assists in 22 games
with Saint John.
Also on the list is defenseman Wiley Sherman at No. 125.
He was a 13th-round of the Sea Dogs in the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft
but did not report to Saint John this year. He’s playing with Hotchkiss School
in Connecticut and has apparently committed to Harvard for the 2014-15 season.
We’ll see what happens there.
Lastly, defenseman Ryan Segalla came in at No. 136. Segalla
was an eighth-round pick of the Sea Dogs in 2011 but never reported. He was selected by the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the expansion draft. Segalla is playing
with Salisbury Prep School and has committed to the University of Connecticutfor 2014-15.
There are lots of QMJHL players in this year’s midterm rankings,
highlighted by Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin. Portland Winterhawks
defenseman Seth Jones topped the rankings.
