Well, here we are. Today at 1pm is the Quebec Major
Junior Hockey League’s trade deadline.
It’s been a fairly dull trading period so far with very
few “blockbuster deals” being made. Two of the bigger deals of the trading window
were the Saint John Sea Dogs trading Ryan Tesink and Kevin Gagne for picks but
neither of those deals were exactly draw dropping.
Halifax made a big trade last night, acquiring 2013 NHL
draft eligible defenseman and Fredericton native Matt Murphy.
Hopefully today a team will make a big splash. If you
look at the standings, it’s basically Halifax followed by a bundle of other
teams.
Some questions that will be answered today: Will Phillip
Danault be traded? Will the Mooseheads load up more? How concerned are the Remparts that Mikhail Grigorenko will stick with the Sabres? Which fan base will flip
out first on the internet?
In Saint John, the Sea Dogs have made six deals so far.
Jonathan Huberdeau’s QMJHL rights could be traded today in a conditional deal,
but we will see if that happens. And what about 20-year old defenseman Pierre
Durepos?
No clue what’s going to happen today. Should be
interesting.
