The Saint John Sea Dogs announced the 26 players who will
start the regular season with the club today.
Of the 26 players, 16 played with the team last season.
Along with the returning players are some high end rookies, specifically
first-round picks Nathan Noel and Will Thompson.
There are no huge surprises on the roster. The full thing
can be seen on the Sea Dogs website.
The Sea Dogs also announced via press release that American
defenseman Steven Duda has been reassigned and defenseman Sheehan Kirkwood, a
free agent invitee to camp from Ontario, is awaiting reassignment.
Also, “the Sea Dogs have received permission from the
QMJHL to carry one player above the allowable roster limit due an injury in
goal.” Alex Fournier, last year’s backup, did not play in any pre-season games
due to injury.
This is a young team that will have plenty of ups and
plenty of downs this season. But it should be an enjoyable team to watch.
"It's an exciting, young roster, filled with skill
and speed," said Sea Dogs' Head Coach and General Manager Mike Kelly in a
release. "Our kids will have the opportunity to play and grow together, as
a team."
Saint John begins the regular season on Friday night in
Moncton.
