Recap: Sea Dogs win 2-1

FINAL: Saint John 2, Charlottetown 1
CHARLOTTETOWN
- A third period push by the Saint John Sea Dogs ended a four-game losing streak on Friday.

Vince Elie and Drew Elliot both scored in the final frame to give the Sea Dogs a 2-1 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders at Eastlink Centre. It's Saint John's first victory since returning from the holiday break.

It was another close, evenly played game between the Sea Dogs and Islanders, who needed a shootout to decide a winner last night. Four of the five meetings between the two this season have been decided by a goal.

Things weren't looking great for Saint John in the third. Down 1-0, they were given a great opportunity to tie things up when Ross Campbell was given a five-minute major for boarding at 6:48. Saint John had three minutes of power play time to work with (Joseph Ianniello was give a cross checking minor on the same play) but could not score.

Finally, at 12:40, Elie tied things up with his 15th of the season and then at 15:25 Elliott, the former Islander, netted what would be the winner to make it a 2-1 final.

Patrick Leaver made 29 saves in the win.

Charlottetown's lone goal came from Alexis Michaud in the second period. Carter Bickle made 32 saves in the loss.
