Recap: Sea Dogs lose 7-3

FINAL: Saint John 3, Gatineau 7
 Dominic Charette/Gatineau Olympiques
GATINEAU, QC - It was another rough night for the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Gatineau Olympiques scored two goals in the first 6:20 and never looked back, posting a 7-3 victory over the Sea Dogs on Friday night at Slush Puppie Centre.

The Sea Dogs have now lost three straight games and haven't looked great in any of those losses. They'll look to regroup tomorrow against the rebuilding Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, who have one of the worst records in the league.

The first period on Friday was similar to Sunday's against the Val-d'Or Foreurs. The Armada grabbed an early lead and the Sea Dogs spent the period – and the entire game, really – trying to chip away at the lead.

Saint John never got back into the game. The team trailed 3-1 after one and then allowed the first two goals in the middle frame.

The Sea Dogs' offense has struggled during this losing streak and had another rough go on Friday. Zachary Morin's goal in the second period – which came thanks to a blunder by Gatineau goaltender Danai Shaiikov – was the first goal by a Sea Dogs forward in six periods of play.

Along with Morin, Thomas Charbonneau and Jamie Glance had goals for Saint John. Samuel Meloche made 35 saves in the loss.

Artem Glukhikh had two goals for Gatineau while singles came from Dylan Allie, Peter Legostaev, Louis-Étienne Halley and Simon-Xavier Cyr. Shaiikov made 23 saves in the win.
