Recap: Sea Dogs win 4-3

SAINT JOHN - Make it four straight wins for the Saint John Sea Dogs.

The Sea Dogs extended their winning streak with a 4-3 home win over the Charlottetown Islanders on Saturday. The team has now earned at least a point in six straight outings.

Saint John controlled much of the game on Saturday and carried a 4-1 lead into the third period. The Islanders scored two quick goals in the third – the first at 3:05 and the second at 3:38 – to make it interesting. The Dogs would hang on for the victory, though.

Alexis Joseph, Zachary Morin, Ryan Howard and Alexander Donovan scored for Saint John. Jamie Glance had another multi-point game, recording two assists. Samuel Meloche made 25 saves in the win.

Kimani Eccleston, Hugo Charron and Nolan Duskocy had Charlottetown goals. Donald Hickey made 35 stops in the loss – and his performance kept this game close.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were once again without forward Olivier Lemieux (injury) along with defenseman Olivier Duhamel (injury) and Julien Lanthier (injury).

NOTES: The Sea Dogs went with the same lineup as Friday's game... Samuel Meloche made a fourth straight start and his second in less than 24 hours... this was the first meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Islanders. Jim Hulton coached against his old team for the first time... Saint John wore their black third jerseys for a second straight game... the Islanders didn't record their first shot on goal until 7:25 of the first period. Shots were 13-4 in favour of the Sea Dogs in the opening frame... Alexander Donovan had six shots... Alexis Jospeh has scored in three straight games... Joseph, Zachary Morin and Ryan Howard all scored on Friday as well... Donovan had six shots... Olivier Groulx extended his point streak to five games... Jabez Seymour had five hits... Saint John went 1/3 on the power play... attendance was 2,365.
