Alexander Donovan's natural hat trick lifted the Sea Dogs to a wild 7-5 victory over the Drummondville Voltigeurs at the Marcel Dionne Centre. Saint John trailed much of the game before scoring four unanswered goals to skate away with the victory.
This was Saint John's third game in three days. They fell 7-3 in Gatineau before rebounding with a 3-1 victory in Boisbriand on Saturday – a win that was also thanks to some third period goals.
Alexis Joseph, Jesse Dunlap, Thomas Charbonneau and Jamie Glance also scored for Saint John. It was a game of odd goals with a number of Saint John's markers going off skates or sticks of Voltigeurs players.
Samuel Meloche made 26 saves in the win.
It wasn't the prettiest of wins, but it got the job done – which is often the case when playing the final game of a three-in-three. Saint John's offense, which has struggled of late, also found a spark just in time.
William Dumont scored twice for Drummondville while Jayden Rousseau, Loic Brunet and Jacob Boucher added singles. Mathys Fortin was pulled after allowing two goals on seven shots in the first period. Jan Larys allowed four goals on 23 shots in relief.

NOTES: Forward Oliver Ozogany returned to the lineup after missing the past two games... Saint John once again mixed up their forward lines a bit. Matyas Cancik was out with an injury or sickness... the Sea Dogs called up forward Nathan Riendeau, who the team selected in the second-round of this year's QMJHL Entry Draft. Riendeau made his QMJHL debut and was in the team's starting lineup. He went 3/7 in the faceoff circle... it's October, but this was the final regular season game between the Sea Dogs and Voltigeurs. Saint John won both meetings... Logan Roop dropped the gloves with Jaden VanWalleghem in the second period... Jacob Boucher's second period goal was his first in the QMJHL... Alexander Donovan's goals were his first since Thanksgiving Monday – which was also against Drummondville. The team's leading goal scorer had gone four games without scoring... Donovan had six shots... this was Donovan's first career QMJHL hat trick... Jamie Glance, Dylan Rozzi, Bo Damphousse, Olivier Groulx and Olivier Lemieux all had two assists each... a tough road trip for Saint John's special teams. Saint John went 0/3 on the power play while Drummondville went 1/3... Saint John scored a season high seven goals... attendance was 1,909.
HIGHLIGHTS
NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs are back home on Saturday to host the Moncton Wildcats at 4 p.m. at TD Station.
