DISPERSAL DRAFT DETAILS RELEASED

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League finally announced the format for tomorrow’s Lewiston Maineiacs dispersal draft.

As expected, the draft will done using the “snake” format. There will be two rounds with the first going in reverse order of the final league standings, meaning the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies will select first. In the second round, the standings will be flipped again, meaning the Huskies will pick last and the Saint John Sea Dogs will select first.

This means that Saint John will select 17th and 18th overall.

As for what will be available, via a QMJHL release, “thirty-five players on the Lewiston MAINEiacs’ eligibility list can be selected, even if such player could have been on the team’s protected list in previous years. Also, each of the MAINEiacs’ 2011 draft picks can be selected.”

Any players who are not selected tomorrow are eligible for the QMJHL Entry Draft which will be held on Saturday morning in Victoriaville.

Also, as per a QMJHL release, picks are allowed to be traded during the draft.

Teams will have two minutes to make their selections. Results are expected to be posted on the league’s website shortly after the draft ends.
