DRAFT DAY IN THE QMJHL

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. – It’s draft day in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

After picking up an another fourth round pick in yesterday’s Lewiston Maineiacs Dispersal Draft, the Saint John Sea Dogs will have 10 selections – pending trades – today at the QMJHL Entry Draft in Victoriaville.

Saint John’s first selection will be the final pick of the second round. The Sea Dogs are without a first round pick this year after trading it to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in exchange for Alexandre Beauregard.

Here is where Saint John will be picking today:

Round 2 – 36th overall
Round 3 – 50th overall
Round 4 – 68th overall
Round 4 – 72nd overall
Round 5 – 90th overall
Round 6 – 99th overall
Round 8 – 144th overall
Round 9 – 162nd overall
Round 10 – 180th overall
Round 11 – 198th overall
In the 2008 Entry Draft, the Sea Dogs were without a first round selection and took Kevin Gagne as their first pick in the second round.

Although they won’t be selecting until late in the round two, Saint John has been pretty good at drafting impact players in the middle rounds over the past few years.

The draft begins this morning at 11:00 am at Colisee Desjardins.
