Patience will be required if you’re waiting for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League to release its 2011-12 schedule.
The QMJHL’s official Twitter feed tweeted today that “the QMJHL 2011-12 regular season calendar will not be official until then end of July.”
The league’s French feed added that the reason for the delay is because of the dismantling of the Lewiston Maineiacs franchise. With the Maineiacs being dissolved, 17 teams will make up the circuit this season.
Unless there are drastic changes to scheduling format, the Saint John Sea Dogs, as league champions, will open the regular season on a Thursday night at home. If the poll on the QMJHL website is correct, the Sea Dogs’ home opener should be on September 8.
