Wildcats Trade Milan To Tigres

SAINT JOHN – Defenseman Daniel Milan won’t be playing with the Moncton Wildcats when they take on the Saint John Sea Dogs tonight at Harbour Station.

The Wildcats traded Milan to the Victoriaville Tigres this morning in exchange for defensemen Danick Emond and Jacob Sweeney. There is already speculation that this was the first stage in trading Brandon Gormley to the Tigres.

Milan, 19, had just five assists in 33 games with the Wildcats this season. Last year, he had 14 goals and 24 assists in 68 games. He added another goal and assist in five playoff games.

He had an assist and a -1 rating on Saturday in Moncton’s 5-2 win over the Sea Dogs.

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed the Detroit native in September.

The Tigres haven’t been getting the attention that Saint John and Shawinigan have been, but they have been viewed as a contender all season long. They currently sit third in the stacked Telus East division and seventh overall in the league with a record of 24-13-0-2.

Victorivalle acquired Matthew Hobbs from the PEI Rocket last week, and traded for Jeremie Blain of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan today.
