Going To Game 7

The Saint John Sea Dogs will have to wait until Tuesday night to see who they play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s semi-finals.

With Chicoutimi's 2-0 win over Shawinigan and Rimouski’s 3-2 victory over Blainville-Boisbriand this afternoon, there will be at least two Game 7s on Tuesday night. If Halifax wins tomorrow night in Quebec, that series will require a seventh game on Tuesday as well.

Former Sea Dog Alexandre Beauregard scored the insurance goal with 40 seconds left to play to secure a Sagueneens win. It will surely be an intense and nervous atmosphere in Shawinigan on Tuesday given that this year’s Memorial Cup hosts are a loss away from elimination. The Memorial Cup tournament doesn't begin until May 17.

According to a tweet from Mikael Lalancette of TVA Sports, the Cataractes are 1-7 all-time in Game 7s.

As for who Saint John will play…

  • If Chicoutimi wins, the Sags will play Saint John.
  • If Rimouski wins and Chicoutimi loses, the Oceanic will play Saint John.
  • If Chicoutimi and Rimouski both lose, Saint John will play the winner of the Halifax/Quebec series.

No matter who the Sea Dogs play, the series will begin on Friday night at 7:30pm at Harbour Station.
