The Waiting Game

While the Saint John Sea Dogs take a few days off, six other teams are still fighting for their lives in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League quarter-finals.

After a dull first round that saw seven sweeps, three of the four second round matchups will go at least six games. The action resumes tomorrow afternoon and on Monday night.

Shawinigan can move on with a win in Chicoutimi tomorrow and Blainville-Boisbriand can advance with a victory in Rimouski. On Monday night, Quebec can eliminate Halifax with a win at the Pepsi Colisee.

If any of these series require a Game 7 it would be played on Tuesday.

Saint John will play the lowest seed that advances. They cannot play the Cataractes (No.2) or the Armada (No. 3) in the next round, leaving Quebec (No. 5), Halifax (No. 6), Rimouski (No. 7), and Chicoutimi (No. 8) as possibilities.

So, the Sea Dogs could know their semi-final opponent by Monday night at the earliest. In order for that to happen, Shawinigan and Blainville-Boisbriand would have to win tomorrow and Quebec would then have to win on Monday which would setup a Remparts/Sea Dogs semi-final. How awesome would that be?

No matter who Saint John plays, the series will start next Friday at Harbour Station.

Happy scoreboard watching!
