Sea Dogs At AHL Camps Update

HERSHEY BEARS
Stanislav Galiev broke his stick during the Hershey Bears hardest shot competition. Sweetest Hockey on Earth has all the details, which includes this video.

The Bears host the Binghamton Senators tonight.

HAMILTON BULLDOGS
There was an interesting article in the Montreal Gazette yesterday on Bulldogs camp which included this paragraph on Stephen MacAulay.

“He and Saint John Sea Dog overager Stephen MacAulay, who was drafted by St. Louis but never offered a contract, may start the season in the ECHL but figure to be among the first recalls when players like Louis Leblanc, Blake Geoffrion and Aaron Palushaj rejoin the Canadiens after the lockout,” writes Pat Hickey, referring to MacAulay and free agent Bobby Farnham.

The Montreal Canadiens’ ECHL affiliate is the Wheeling Nailers, an affiliation they share with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Hamilton plays the Toronto Marlies on Saturday.

SYRACUSE – ST. JOHN’S
Danick Gauthier played in his first AHL exhibition game last night in Corner Brook, Newfoundland (according to his Twitter). It was the first of three games that the Syracuse Crunch will play on The Rock.

The Crunch defeated the Ice Caps 4-1. There was no mention of Gauthier in the recap posted on the Crunch website.

The Crunch face the Ice Caps again tonight in Stephenville.

BRIDGEPORT
Former Sea Dog Brett Gallant played on the fourth line in the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-1 win over the Providence Bruins.

According to the Sound Tigers website, Gallant fought Tyler Randell in the first period and “took the Bruins forward down to the ice.”

Bridgeport’s top line featured Kirill Kabanov.

PIRATES
Former Sea Dogs goaltender Travis Fullerton was in net for the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds as they fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Portland Pirates.

Maine Hockey Journal has an article on the former Lewiston Maineiacs who now play for UNB. That includes Fullerton.

“I wish I could tell you, I have no idea” said Fullerton when asked what his future plans are. “I will keep the doors open and see where the chips fall in March when our season is done.”

Maine Hockey Journal has also posted pictures from the game on their Facebook page.

MILWAUKEE
We’re not sure if he played but Charles-Olivier Roussel’s Milwaukee Admirals lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Rockford IceHogs last night. Recap.

PETERSEN
Former Sea Dog Nick Petersen was cut by Houston Aeros yesterday despite scoring in their exhibition contest against the Texas Stars on Wednesday, reports the Minnesota Star Tribune.

Petersen has been assigned to the Orlando Solar Bears of East Coast Hockey League. The Solar Bears have a very awesome logo.
