Pre-Season Wrap

A final look at Saint John’s pre-season…
  • Samuel Dove-McFalls ended up leading the Sea Dogs in pre-season scoring with three goals and two assists for five points.
  • Dove-McFalls, Nathan Noel, and the released Stefano Pezzetta all finished with a team high three goals.
  • Mathieu Joseph and Sheehan Kirkwood led the Dogs in assists with three apiece.
  • Dove-McFalls’ 14 shots were a team high.
  • Sebastien Auger ended up leading all Sea Dogs goaltenders in playing minutes with 120. He allowed three goals on 54 shots.
  • Saint John finished first in the Maritimes Division and second overall in the league with a 4-1-0-1 record for nine points. Both of their loses came on the road against Halifax. The Dogs went 3-0 at home.
  • Thanks to their free pre-season opener, the Dogs led the league in pre-season attendance with an average of 4,173. Baie-Comeau finished second with an average of 1,543.
  • Not surprisingly, former Sea Dogs and current Quebec Remparts defenseman Alexander McQuaid led the league in penalty minutes with 33.
  • Saint John had the third best kill rating in the league at 86.5%.
  • Saint John outscored opponents 24-17. 10 of those 24 goals came in the second period.
  • The Sea Dogs averaged 34.33 shots per game, the second most in the league. Cape Breton, who played just games due to their Russia trip, had the best average.
  • Saint John’s 54 shots last Friday were the most in any pre-season contest this year. Meanwhile, Saint John’s 17 shots against the Mooseheads on August 16 tied them for second fewest in a game.
