GAME DAY 46: vs Screaming Eagles

A preview of tonight’s game between the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Saint John Sea Dogs…

When and where: Tonight at 7:30 p.m., Harbour Station

Records: The Screaming Eagles are fifth in the Maritimes Division and 16th overall in the QMJHL with an 18-21-2-3 record for 41 points. The Sea Dogs are second in the Maritimes and sixth overall with a record of 24-14-1-6 for 55 points.

Last games: The Screaming Eagles are coming off a 5-4 overtime win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Sunday. Loik Leveille scored twice while singles came from Phelix Martineau, Stephen Anderson and Colin MacSween. Alexandre Belanger made 36 saves in the win. The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-5 shootout loss in Sherbrooke on Sunday. Jason Bell, Mathieu Joseph, Juraj Siska, Bokondji Imama and Spencer Smallman all scored for Saint John. Alex Bishop made 17 saves in the loss.

2014-15 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 4-1-0-0 against the Screaming Eagles this season while Cape Breton is 1-3-0-1 against Saint John.

Last meeting: New Year’s Eve at Harbour Station when the Sea Dogs defeated the Screaming Eagles 6-3. Adam Marsh had two goals for Saint John while singles came from Nathan Noel, Mathieu Joseph, Spencer Smallman and Matthew Highmore. Sebastien Auger made 27 saves in the win. Jason Bell, Kyle Farrell and Evgeny Svechnikov scored for Cape Breton. Francois Brassard made 15 stops in the loss.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Screaming Eagles: Stephen Anderson and Olivier LeBlanc. LeBlanc has not played since Jan. 10.

  1. It's a good thing they kept Mann-Dixon close. Hopefully he'll get to play this weekend, Bishop seems to be improving with every game. The problem with lower body injuries like Auger's is that you can't rush them, they have to heal on their own. Good luck to both Alex and Blade this weekend.
