Jets send Luke Green back to junior

Luke Green has been reassigned to the Saint John Sea Dogs.

It was announced on Saturday that the Winnipeg Jets have sent Green back to junior. The defenceman was one of five players reassigned to the CHL.

Green was a third-round pick of the Jets in the 2016 NHL Draft.

The 18-year-old will play his third season in Saint John. Last year, Green had 10 goals and 25 assists in 61 regular season games. He added a goal and two assists in 13 playoff matches.

In 121 career QMJHL regular season games, Green has 16 goals and 55 assists.

Green will give the Sea Dogs a boost on the backend. Thomas Chabot (Ottawa Senators) and Jakub Zboril (Boston Bruins) are still at NHL camps, leaving the Dogs shorthanded on defence.
The Jets also announced Saturday that former Sea Dogs defenceman Matt Murphy has been released from his amateur tryout agreement. Murphy committed to the UNB Varsity Reds over the summer.

In 37 games with Saint John last year, Murphy had eight goals and 21 assists. He added four goals and five assists in 17 playoff games.
