Veleno, Warren return; Williams takes Bishop's spot

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs had some different faces in the lineup on Saturday against the Charlottetown Islanders.

Forwards Joe Veleno and John Warren made their long awaited returns from injury. Veleno, who has appeared in just nine games this season, played his first game since Oct. 21. Warren, who appeared in Saint John's first two games of the season, made his first in-game appearance since Sept. 24.

The two were placed on the team's fourth line with call up Liam Conrad. The Sea Dogs recently signed Conrad as an affiliate player and called him up for Saturday's game. The 19-year-old has 11 goals and 14 assists in 27 games with the MHL's Dieppe Commandos this year.

Saint John also called up goaltender Matthew Williams from the MHL Summerside Western Capitals. Williams backed up Alex D'Orio - who got the start on Saturday. According to Tim Roszell on the 96.1 NewSong FM pre-game show, goaltender Alex Bishop is not with the team at the moment. Bishop is rumoured to be heading to Quebec in the Callum Booth trade.

Along with Bishop, the Sea Dogs were missing Thomas Chabot, (WJC - Canada), Mathieu Joseph (WJC - Canada), Jakub Zboril (WJC - Czech Republic), Nathan Noel (upper body), Matt Green (upper body) and Bryson Michel on Saturday.
