SAINT JOHN - It took just under two hours for the Halifax Mooseheads
to sell out Games 1 & 2 of their semifinal playoff series against the
Rimouski Oceanic. Tickets ranging from $40 to $80 apiece have been popping up
on Kijiji over the past 24 hours.
In Chicoutimi, people were lined out the door yesterday morning waiting to purchase semi-final seats. The Sags website stated on Wednesday that they were limiting purchases to eight tickets per person.
Tickets to both Games 1 and 2 of the of the Sea Dogs’
semifinal series at Harbour Station went on sale last week. There are still seats
available for both contests. The Harbour Station website lists ticket availability
for today’s game as “limited” and “good” for Sunday’s game.
The Sea Dogs have hosted just four home games so far this
post-season and are averaging 4,861 fans per contest.
This is the third straight year – and the fourth time in
five years - that the Sea Dogs have reached the semifinals of the Quebec Major
Junior Hockey League playoffs. That’s an impressive accomplishment especially
when you consider this team has only existed for seven seasons. Of those seven
seasons, they’ve missed the playoffs twice, were bounced out in the first round
once, and then made it to the semis the other four times.
Despite the continued success, Saint John has yet to
sell out a semifinal game.
