Saint John leads the best-of-seven quarter-final playoff
series 3-0.
PREVIEW
BAIE-COMEAU, Que. – The Saint John Sea Dogs will bring
out their brooms tonight in hopes of sweeping away the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
The Sea Dogs enter tonight’s game with a 3-0 lead in the
quarter-final Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series. This evening’s
contest begins at 8:30pm at the Henry Leonard Centre.
Saint John escaped with a 5-2 win in Game 3 last night in
Baie-Comeau thanks to a three-goal third period. The Dogs opened the scoring in
the first but found themselves down 2-1 late in the second until Tomas Jurco
tied it, sending the teams to the dressing room’s tied at 2-2. The visitors
then grabbed a 3-2 lead early in the third and hung on until they clinched with
two late goals.
The Dogs had goals from Stanislav Galiev, Tomas Jurco,
Ryan Tesink, Jonathan Huberdeau, and Stephen MacAulay. Huberdeau added two
assists. Mathieu Corbeil had a strong performance in net, making 29 saves in
the win.
Baie-Comeau had a much better game than the two they
played in Saint John on the weekend. They had goals from David Rose and
Jonathan Lessard. Philippe Cadorette was named first star, allowing four goals
on 37 shots.
The Drakkar will look to build off some of the momentum they
created last night. They stayed with Saint John up until the final minutes of
the third, giving the Dogs their first real test of the post-season.
The Sea Dogs will be looking to advance to the
semi-finals for the third straight year. In their franchise history, they have
never lost a second round series.
Saint John has swept a quarter-final series just once and
that came back in 2010 when the Dogs knocked out the Gatineau Olympiques.
If Baie-Comeau wins tonight, Game 5 will be Friday night
at the Henry Leonard Centre. If they lose tonight, they’ll be rowing into the
off-season.
