If this report is true, it’s a significant trade for both
teams. It’s unclear what year the first-round picks are for, but either way this is obviously a huge pickup for Saint John. The Dogs currently have just one first-round
selection this year and that is the first overall pick.
It's a high price for the Isles to pay but Cooper will add some size to Charlottetown’s lineup. He
recorded a career best 28 goals and 57 points in 68 games with the Sea Dogs
last season. In 195 career QMJHL games, the Fredericton native has 45 goals and
55 assists.
The QMJHL’s trading period officially opens on May 30, a
day prior to the Entry Draft. It appears the Sea Dogs will be quite active on
both days.
