Game Day 45: vs Drakkar

The Saint John Sea Dogs (28-12-3-1, 1st Maritimes, 3rd QMJHL) are back in action tonight when they host the Baie-Comeau Drakkar (16-21-3-3, 6th East, 17th QMJHL) at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station.

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 1-0 victory over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens last night at Harbour Station. Mathieu Joseph scored Saint John's lone goal while Callum Booth made 22 saves in the shutout win. The Drakkar are coming off a 7-4 win in Halifax last night. Jordan Martel scored twice for the Drakkar while singles came from Simon Chevrier, D'Artagnan Joly, Jean-Simon Belanger, Christopher Benoit and Ivan Chekhovich. Justin Blanchette made 36 saves in the win.

2016-17 head-to-head: This is the first meeting of the season between the two. They meet again on Feb. 19 in Baie-Comeau.

2015-16 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs were 1-1-0-0 against the Drakkar last season while Baie-Comeau went 1-1-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Feb. 13, 2016 at Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Drakkar 5-1. Adam Marsh had two goals for Saint John while singles came from Spencer Smallman, Mathieu Joseph and Sam Povorozniouk. Matt Jones scored for Baie-Comeau. Alex Bishop made 27 saves in the win. Antoine Samuel made 37 saves in the loss.

Ex-Sea Dogs on the Drakkar: None.

Random stat: Despite putting up seven last night in Halifax, the Drakkar have scored the fourth fewest goals in the QMJHL this season (129).

Three Things to Know
1. This is Saint John's final home until Feb. 10. They will play their next five games on the road - all within the Maritimes.

2. Mathieu Joseph has a league leading 22-game point streak going. If he records a point tonight, he will break Zack Phillips' franchise record set in 2011-12.

3. This is the second game of a three-in-three through the Maritimes for Baie-Comeau. They played in Halifax last night, Saint John tonight and are in Bathurst tomorrow.
