Ryan Tesink’s solid play this weekend has earned him third star honours in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this week.
Tesink recorded four assists in the Saint John Sea Dogs’ 8-2 victory over the Rimouski Oceanic on Saturday at Harbour Station. He continued to put up points on Sunday against the Victoriaville Tigres, scoring a pair of goals in Saint John’s 6-2 win. He finished the weekend with a plus-four rating.
His six point weekend gives him a total of three goals and four assists in five games since returning from St. Louis Blues training camp.
In his rookie season last year, the Saint John native registered eight goals and 27 assists in 59 regular season contests.
Tesink becomes the first Sea Dog to earn a weekly star award this season.
Val-d’Or Foreurs netminder Francois Tremblay was named this week’s first star. He finished the week with a 1.30 goals-against-average and .956 save percentage.
Halifax Mooseheads defenseman Konrad Abeltshauser picked up second star honours after recording two goals and five assists in three games.
