GAMEDAY 21: at Chicoutimi

A preview of tonight’s game between the Saint John Sea Dogs and Chicoutimi Sagueneens…

Records: The Sea Dogs are first in the Maritimes Division, second overall in the QMJHL and are ranked third in the CHL Top 10 with a record of 13-4-0-3 for 29 points. The Sagueneens are last in the East Division and 16th overall with an 8-12-1-0 record for 17 points.

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Remparts in Quebec City on Wednesday night. The Sags are coming off a big 7-3 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar last night. Laurent Dauphin had a hat trick, Janne Puhakka had two goals and singles came from William Gignac and Nikita Liamkin. Julio Billia made 23 saves in the win.

2014-15 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 0-0-0-1 against the Sagueneens this season while Chicoutimi is 1-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Sept. 28 at Harbour Station when the Sagueneens defeated the Sea Dogs 5-4 in a shootout. Nicolas Roy, Nikita Liamkin, Samuel Roussy and Alexandre Ranger scored for the Sags while Mark Tremaine, Samuel Dove-McFalls, Nathan Noel and Daniel Del Paggio had Saint John goals. Julio Billia made 33 saves in the win while Sebastien Auger made 50 saves in the loss.

Random stat: Saint John was shutout for the second time this season on Wednesday. The last time they were shutout, they beat the Moncton Wildcats 7-1 in their next game.
