It was a rough go for Hockey Canada at
this year’s World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
For the first time, Canada sent three
national teams rather than regional teams. It did not go well with Canada White
and Canada Black finishing in third and fourth in Group A while Canada Red
finished third in Group B. All three had their tournament’s end in the
quarterfinals.
In an interview with Mooseheads
play-by-play man John Moore, Sea Dogs general manager Darrell Young expressed
his displeasure for the new format.

"Every NHL scout I talked to in Sarnia thinks its the dumbest thing

mind spending $400,000 on dev.. They thought they had better chance of winning
medals. Now 3 teams & didn't even make the
semis."

Defenseman Luke Green was the only Sea
Dog taking part in the event, playing with Canada White. Green finished in a
tie for the team scoring lead with a goal and three assists for four points in
five games.
