It’s official: the Saint John Sea Dogs
will face the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the first round of the QMJHL playoffs.
The Titan were locked into the 14th
overall spot today, meaning they’ll face the No. 3 seeded Sea Dogs in the
opening round.
Game one of the best-of-seven series
will take place on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Harbour Station. Game two will be
on Saturday at 7 p.m., also in Saint John. The series should follow 2-2-1-1-1
formula, meaning games three and four would be in Bathurst before the series
shifted back to Saint John for game five, if needed.
The two teams had some close games
throughout the regular season. The Sea Dogs were 6-1-2-0 against the Titan. Bathurst was 3-5-0-1 against Saint John.
This is the second time the two
franchises will face each other in the playoffs. The Sea Dogs defeated the
Titan in six games in the second round of the 2008 playoffs.
