CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI - A terrific goaltending performance by Alex D'Orio wasn't enough to push the Saint John Sea Dogs past the Charlottetown Islanders on Friday night at Eastlink Centre.
D'Orio faced 58 shots - an Islanders franchise record - in a 4-3 Sea Dogs loss. His night included 21 shots in both the first and third periods.
Former Sea Dogs Kevin Gursoy and Daniel Hardie once again hurt their old team. Gursoy had a goal and two assists while Hardie had a goal and an assist. Nikita Alexandrov and Keith Getson also scored for the Islanders while Dakota Lund-Cornish made 20 stops in the win.
James White, Maxim Cajkovic and Yohan Plamondon all scored for Saint John.
The Sea Dogs have now lost six straight and moved back into last place overall in the QMJHL with just seven points in their first 15 games.
