RDS is reporting that Simon Despres will make his
National Hockey League debut tomorrow night.
The former Saint John Sea Dogs defenseman has three
goals, four assists, 26 penalty minutes and a +3 rating in 22 games with the
American Hockey League’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season.
Despres would become just the second Sea Dog to play in
an NHL game. Yann Sauve was the first last season when he suited up for the
Vancouver Canucks.
Goaltender Mathieu Corbeil backed-up the Columbus Blue
Jackets’ Steve Mason earlier this year but did not see any game action.
The Penguins are in Washington to face the Capitals
tomorrow night at 8pm.
We’ll post more info as it becomes available.
Great news and congrats to him. He truly deserves a shot in the big show.
