VICTORIAVILLE – The always thrilling Subway Super Series begins
tomorrow night at Colisee Desjardins in Victoriaville as Team QMJHL hosts Team
Russia.
Four members of the Saint John Sea Dogs will be taking
part in the event – defensemen Nathan Beaulieu and Pierre Durepos along with
forwards Zack Phillips and Jonathan Huberdeau.
With the game less than 24 hours away, news is starting
to pour out of Victo. Here are some notes:
- Moncton Wildcats defenseman Brandon Gormley will serve as captain for Team QMJHL. Forwards Phillip Danault of the Victoriaville Tigres, Jonathan Huberdeau of the Saint John Sea Dogs, and defenceman Morgan Ellis of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles to serve as assistants for both games.
- Drummondville Voltigeurs forward Marc-Olivier Brouillard will replace Shawinigan Cataractes centre Michael Chaput on Team QMJHL. Chaput was injured on Sunday afternoon. Brouillard has 11 goals and 15 assists in 22 games with the Volts this season.
- Chaput was a roster addition himself after Baie-Comeau’s Raphael Bussieres suffered a concussion in Friday’s loss against Saint John.
- PEI Rocket goaltender Maxime Lagace will start in goal. He is 5-12-2-0 with a 4.11 goals against average and a 0.88 save percentage.
- Sportsnet’s Patrick King tees up the series.
- Sam Cosentino writes about Sportsnet’s revamped CHL coverage this season and his trip to Victoriaville.
Game time is 8pm AST tomorrow night. The match can be seen on Sportsnet. Game two of the series is Wednesday in Quebec City.
