SN Live Blog replay. Less than a week until the showdown
with Shawinigan. Can’t wait.
MISSING IN ACTION: Forwards Jonathan Huberdeau (foot),
Stanislav Galiev (wrist), Aidan Kelly (upper-body), and Stephen MacAulay were
all missing from the Sea Dogs’ lineup on Saturday night.
UP AGAIN: Stephen Anderson was in the lineup again for Saint
John. Anderson had a goal, a +2 rating and three shots in the game. Anderson
played for the Summerside Western Capitals on Friday night, the Sea Dogs on
Saturday and was in the Capitals’ lineup again today.
HOME STREAK: The Sea Dogs won a team record 14th
straight home game on Saturday night. The Dogs have unreal at Harbour Station
this season and now have record of 14-1-0-0 and have outscored opponents 81-34.
WEEKEND SWEEP: The win gave Saint John a weekend sweep in
their mini-series with the Eagles. They outscored them 9-3.
PHILLIPS: Zack Phillips saved his best for last,
recording an assist and empty net goal in the third period. The two points
extended Phillips’ point streak to 19 games, a span that has seen him record 12
goals and 24 assists.
HENDERSON TOUR: The Paul Henderson Jersey Tour made a
stop at Harbour Station on Saturday. The mobile exhibit was setup in the west
end of the parking lot. It featured memorabilia, videos, interactive displays
and, of course, Paul Henderson’s jersey from the 1972 Summit Series.
Former National Hockey Leaguer Dennis Hull was in house
and is currently travelling with the exibit.
GAUTHIER: In the second period, Danick Gauthier kept his
incredible season rolling by scoring his 26th goal of the season in
just his 29th game of the year. He also scored in Friday’s game against
Cape Breton.
AUGER: Huge game from Sebastien Auger last night. It was
probably the best game he has played thus far in his Sea Dogs career.
The rookie netminder made 29 stops in total with several
of them being solid scoring chances for the Eagles. It was nice to see a strong
performance from him after struggling last week in Bathurst.
Auger was named first star for his efforts and improved to
6-1-0-1 on the year.
LEAVING: Seemed like people started to leave a lot earlier
than usual last night – even with the Eagles being down by just two with two
minutes to go. We just don’t get it.
QUICK HITS: Ryan Tesink and Nathan Beaulieu each had two
assists… Kevin Gagne had a Sea Dogs high six shots… Danick Gauthier and Grant
West both recorded three hits… the attendance was 3,678… Saint John Airport
handed out name tag/address things at the door.
