Sea Dogs draft pick Jack Eichel will play for Team USA at
the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships.
Team USA made their final cut this morning. Eichel was among the 13 forwards named to the defending champ’s 2014 squad. He's also the youngest player on the team.
Considered a top prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft, Eichel
has 13 goals and nine assists in 10 United States Hockey League games with the
US National Under-18 Team. He is sure to have quite a bit of attention on him
at this year’s tournament, especially when Team USA faces Connor McDavid and
Team Canada on New Year’s Eve.
The 17-year old has committed to play at Boston
University next year. He was a 10th round pick of the Sea Dogs in the 2013
QMJHL Entry Draft.
The US plays their first game at 12:30pm Atlantic time on
Thursday at against the Czech Republic, a game that can be seen on TSN.
