Sea Dogs GM Search Goes Public

This is something you don’t see every day.

The Saint John Sea Dogs sent out a press release this morning stating that they are accepting applications for the team’s general manager position. Head Coach Ross Yates and Head Scout Christian Vermette are currently sharing the duties on an interim basis.

Here’s the release:

The Saint John Sea Dogs are accepting applications for the team's general manager position.

The successful candidate must be ready to lead a young team toward a promising future.

"We are in a rebuild," stated Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. "And we want to continue the drive toward another championship."

In the interim, general manager duties are being shared between Sea Dogs Head Coach Ross Yates and Head Scout Christian Vermette.

Applications should be submitted to:

The closing date for applications is Friday, January 17, 2014.

Makes sense to make the search for a new GM public I guess. Just kind of odd to see the search for such a high profile position with a major junior hockey team made so public like this. Hopefully it works out.

You have to think this is a position that should draw plenty of interest. The Sea Dogs are a young team with assets to work with and want to host the Memorial Cup in 2017.
