Robert Mayer is a Spengler Cup Champion.
The former Sea Dogs goaltender made 41 saves in a 5-3 HC Genève-Servette victory over CSKA Moscow to win the Spengler. Genève-Servette defeated Team
Canada in yesterday’s semi-final to advance to the championship game. Mayer did
not play in that game.
Mayer was reassigned to the Swiss National League A club
for the annual holiday tournament by the Montreal Canadiens a couple weeks ago.
In 11 games with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, the 24-year old is 3-6-2 with a
3.05 GAA and 0.896 SV%.
The netminder played two seasons with Saint John from
2007-2009.
