Sunday Morning Notes

A few things…
  • Forward Mathieu Joseph, a third-round pick of Saint John in a 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft, made his debut in the Sea Dogs’ 5-4 loss to the Wildcats last night. He had two shots, four hits, a +2 rating, and went 6/12 on faceoffs.
  • Nicolas Hebert, acquired in a trade from Rimouski, made his Sea Dogs debut last night. He had one shot, two hits, a -1 rating, and went 10/20 on faceoffs. He also saw some time on Saint John’s penalty kill.
  • Last night’s crowd of 4,100 was the biggest of the season and first over 4,000 this year.
  • In exhibition action at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge yesterday, Team Atlantic defeated the Czech Republic 5-2 at Centre 200. Sea Dogs forward Nathan Noel had quite a game, recording two goals and two assists. Dogs defenseman Will Thompson is also part of that team.
  • Team Atlantic plays Team Ontario tomorrow night at Centre 200.
  • The Telegram had an article on Noel last week.
  • NHL.com says Matthew Highmore is a prospect on the rise.
  • Sea Dogs draft pick Jack Eichel had a goal and an assist in Team USA’s 6-3 victory over Slovakia yesterday at the world juniors.
