Recap: Sea Dogs lose 6-3

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Saint John Sea Dogs dropped a sixth straight road game on Friday at Eastlink Centre, falling 6-3 to the Charlottetown Islanders.

The Islanders scored two goals in every period in the victory. The teams were tied 2-2 and 3-3 in the second period before the Islanders pulled away thanks to another second period marker and two goals late in the third.

Ethan Montroy scored a pair for Charlottetown while singles came from Simon Hughes, Marcus Kearsey, Anthony Flanagan and Ross Campbell. Matthew Butler added a pair of assists. Donald Hickey made 24 stops in the win.

Dylan Rozzi, Tyler Peddle and Reid Calder all scored for Saint John. Charles-Edward Gravel made 35 stops in the loss.

The Sea Dogs have now dropped three straight games overall and have fallen three games below .500. Saint John and Charlottetown meet again on Saturday night at Eastlink Centre.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Eriks Mateiko (world juniors) and Darien Reynolds (healthy) along with defenseman Matthew MacLean (injury).

DEBUTS: Forward Matthew Krayer, wearing No. 21, and defenseman John Lumsden, wearing No. 54, both made their QMJHL debuts in this game. Both were recent signings of the Sea Dogs. Krayer had two shots and went 3/10 on faceoffs while Lumsden was a -1 with one shot.

NOTES: Charles-Edward Gravel returned to Saint John's lineup after not dressing for the first couple games of the second half... Elliot Dubé had five shots... Saint John went 0/3 on the power play while Charlottetown went 0/2... former Sea Dogs forward Simon Hughes had a goal and an assist... Parker Forlin earned his first QMJHL point, assisting on Dylan Rozzi's goal... Rozzi has scored in three straight games... Tyler Peddle scored his first goal since Nov. 16... attendance was 2,017.
