The league confirmed Wednesday that the Newfoundland QMJHL franchise is set to announce its identity. The press conference will be held at 12:30 p.m. Atlantic and will be live streamed on YouTube.
While some of the teasers the franchise has been posting on social media would indicate otherwise, the franchise is widely expected to be called the Newfoundland Regiment, a tribute to the province's military history.
Thursday's press conference will be held at a military building in St. John's, which is home to the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Museum.
The team's logo may also have been leaked Wednesday thanks to a Reddit user who discovered the below on the federal trademark website.
This colour scheme isn't like any other in the QMJHL, which is nice. It is a bit similar to what the PWHL's Montreal Victoire are sporting this season.
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan will relocate to St. John's for the 2025-26 season. It's the first time the QMJHL has returned to Newfoundland since the Fog Devils left in 2008.
