Game Day 44: at Halifax

HALIFAX - After playing five straight games at home, the Saint John Sea Dogs begin a stretch of four straight road games today.

The Sea Dogs and Halifax Mooseheads meet this afternoon at 3 p.m. at Scotiabank Centre. This is the fifth meeting of the year between the two and Halifax has won three of them.

The two enter play today with 36 points each – but Saint John has played one less game. The Sea Dogs are coming off losses on Thursday and Friday while Mooseheads are coming off wins both of those nights.

2024-25 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 18-25-0-0 for 36 points (fifth Maritimes/ninth Eastern/15th QMJHL) while the Mooseheads are 15-23-6-0 for 36 points (sixth Maritimes/10th Eastern/16th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 7-3 loss to the Rimouski Oceanic on Friday. Tyler Peddle, Dylan Rozzi and William Yared scored for Saint John. Justin Robinson made 30 saves in the loss. The Mooseheads are coming off a 5-1 win over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens on Friday. Caylen Blake scored twice while singles came from William Bent, Shawn Carrier and Brady Schultz. Jacob Steinman made 26 saves in the win. 

2024-25 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 1-3-0-0 against the Mooseheads this season while Halifax is 3-0-1-0 against Saint John.
 
Last meeting: Jan. 12 in Saint John where the Mooseheads defeated the Sea Dogs 5-1. Liam Kilfoil scored a pair of goals for Halifax while Shawn Carrier, Quinn Kennedy and Patrick McNab also converted. William Yared had Saint John's lone goal. Nicolas Gillham-Cirka made 33 saves in the win. Justin Robinson made 35 stops in the loss.

Moosehead to watch: Quispamsis native Liam Kilfoil has three goals and three assists in four games against Saint John this season.

Random stat: The Mooseheads have the fewest wins against Maritimes Division foes (9-11-5-0) of any of the Maritimes Division teams.
