Michael Hawkins/Saint John Sea Dogs |
Despite a 45-save performance from goaltender Eric Young, the Sea Dogs fell 6-1 to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens at the Georges Vezina Centre on Friday.
Young allowed 12 goals in Saint John's 14-0 blowout loss on Thursday night in Baie-Comeau. The goaltender was forced to play the majority of that game due to Justin Robinson suffering an injury during his short stint of playing time. The injury also meant Young would be starting again in Chicoutimi.
Much like all of Saint John's recent losses, the Sea Dogs fell behind early, going down 2-0 at 12:59 of the opening frame. Egan Beveridge got Saint John back within one at 13:57 only for the Dogs to allow another Chicoutimi goal less than two minutes later.
Maxime Masse netted a pair of goals for the Sagueneens while singles came from Thomas Desruisseaux, Loic Usereau, Emile Guite and Emmanuel Vermette. Jacob Brochu only had to make 17 saves to earn the win.
Saint John will play the final game of this three-game Quebec road trip Sunday in Shawinigan.
