Game Day 49: vs Wildcats

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will be in tough to break their losing streak tonight.

The Sea Dogs, who dropped a fourth straight game on Wednesday when they fell on home ice to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, will look to pull off a major upset when they host the Moncton Wildcats at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats, winners of three straight, sit first overall in the QMJHL standings with 76 points – double the amount of points the Sea Dogs have this season.

Saint John does have two wins against Moncton this season but the Wildcats have won the two most recent meetings.

2024-25 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 19-29-0-0 for 38 points (sixth Maritimes/10th Eastern/16th QMJHL) while the Wildcats are 37-8-2-0 for 76 points (first Maritimes/first Eastern/first QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-2 loss to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Wednesday at TD Station. Reid Calder and Zachary Morin scored Saint John's goal. Justin Robinson made 34 stops in the loss. The Wildcats are coming off a 3-2 shootout win over the Cape Breton Eagles last night at Avenir Centre. Loke Johansson and Dylan MacKinnon scored for Moncton. Rudy Guimond made 38 stops in the win.

Last meeting: Dec. 28 in Moncton where the Wildcats defeated the Sea Dogs 7-2. Caleb Desnoyers scored a pair of goals for Moncton while singles came from Markus Vidicek, Riley Sampson, Etienne Morin, Adam Fortier-Gendron and Mitchell Wagner. Saint John had goals from Dylan Rozzi and Nicolas Bilodeau. Jacob Steinman made 29 stops in the win. Justin Robinson made 41 saves in the loss.
